300 posts of Management Trainees (Technical) - SAIL

An opportunity to join SAIL as Management Trainees(Technical)

SAIL, a Navratna Company, is India’s largest steel producer with an annual turnover of around Rs. 50,000 crore. It operates and owns five integrated steel plants at Rourkela, Bhilai, Durgapur, Bokaro and Burnpur and three special steel plants at Salem, Durgapur and Bhadravati. As part of its global ambition, the Company is implementing a massive expansion plan involving project work of building /adding new facilities with emphasis on state of the art green technology.

To man its front line executive positions at its plants/units, applications are invited from young, energetic and result oriented persons for around 300 posts of Management Trainees (Technical).

Eligibility Criteria:


Candidates are requested to carefully go through the eligibility criteria mentioned below before applying Online:

Qualification: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering in any of the following disciplines:

i) Mechanical ii) Electrical iii) Metallurgy iv) Chemical v) Electronics & Telecommunications vi) Instrumentation vii) Civil viii) Ceramics and ix) Computer Science from a recognized University/Institute with minimum 65% marks in aggregate of all years/semesters (50% in aggregate for SC/ST candidates). For Computer Science discipline, those having recognised Master’s Degree in Computer Applications (3-year course) with minimum 65% marks in the aggregate (50% in aggregate for SC/ST candidates) are also eligible.

Age: Born not earlier than June 1, 1979 (Upper age limit of 30 years is relaxable by 5 years for SC/ST, by 3 years for OBC candidates and by 10 years for Physically Handicapped candidates). Those domiciled in the state of Jammu & Kashmir from 1/1/80 to 31/12/89 will be allowed 5 years relaxation in upper age limit.

SELECTION:

Written Test: Eligible candidates will be required to appear for objective type written test in July, 2009 at any one of the centres at Agartala, Allahabad, Bangalore, Baroda, Bhilai, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Bokaro, Chandigarh, Chennai, Dehradun, Delhi, Durgapur, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Jammu, Kochi, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, Patna, Ranchi, Rourkela, Salem, Trichy, Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam. However, SAIL may add/delete any centre and allocate appropriate centre to the candidate.

In the written test, there will be negative marking for wrong answers, i.e. 1/4th of the allotted marks for the question will be deducted for every wrong answer

HOW TO APPLY:


Eligible and interested candidates would be required to apply online only through SAIL’s website: www.sail.co.in. No other means/mode of application shall be accepted. Before registering their applications on the website the candidates should possess the following:

a) Valid e-mail ID.

b) Pay in Slip for Rs.500/- as examination fee for General and OBC Candidates (Rs.150/- as processing fee for SC/ST& PH candidates). SC/ST & PH candidates are required to submit a self-attested copy of Caste/Disability certificate alongwith Pay in Slip.

The online registration site would be open from 9th June 2009


After applying online, candidate is required to download the system generated Registration Slip with unique registration number and other essential details with space for passport size photograph & signature. In order to ‘save’ the data entered, applicants should click on the ‘save’ button and then print the Registration Slip. The Original Registration Slip, Pay in Slip and a self-attested copy of Caste/Physically Handicapped certificate (for reserved category only) is to be sent, by ORDINARY POST (since post bag do not accept Registered Posts) to Steel Authority of India Limited, Post Bag No. 10, Lodhi Road Post Office, New Delhi -110003, so as to reach latest by 4th July 2009
