Ministry of Human Resource Development invites applications for the post of Chairman, in the National Institute of Open Schooling in the pay scale of Rs.37400-67000 + Rs.10000 (Grade Pay)(revised) for a tenure of 5 years or attaining the age of 62 years, whichever is earlier.
Considering the nature of duties and responsibilities assigned to the post, the applicant should have adequate management skills to run the organization, which has Accredited Institutions (AIs) and Accredited Vocational Institutions (AVIs) spread all over the country. NIOS is a growing organization and hence the eligible officer should be ready to take on new challenges and ensure smooth functioning of the organization and should have adequate interest and experience to encourage planning, implementation and research in the field of Open and Distance Learning.
The candidates should be under 56 years of age as on the date of application and should be from among the Officers of the Central/ State Government/Semi- Government/Autonomous organizations. The eligible candidates for the post may apply through proper channel. The applications in the format provided below may be sent to Director (I), Ministry of Human Resource Development. The last date for receiving applications is 31.03.2009.

VACANCY CIRCULAR
1. The Department of School Education & Literacy, Ministry of HRD invites applications for the appointment to the post of Chairman, Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi. CBSE is an autonomous organisation of the Department and the post of Chairman carries a pre-revised pay scale of Rs.18400-22400/ + usual allowances as admissible under the Rules of the Board. The Board currently has over 9,000 schools, both in India and abroad, affiliated to it. It conducts public examination at Class X and XII stage.
2. Considering the nature of duties and responsibilities assigned to the post, the applicant should have adequate management skills to run the organization at New Delhi and its current seven regional offices. CBSE is a growing organization and hence the eligible officer should be ready to take on new challenges and ensure smooth functioning of the Board, and should have adequate interest and experience to encourage innovations in the conduct of public examination, and curriculum development etc.
3. Method of recruitment: The post is to be filled up by transfer on deputation (including short term contract).
4. Eligibility : Officers of Central/State Govts./ Semi-Govt./autonomous organisation are eligible to apply subject to the following:
i) holding analogous posts on regular basis
or
ii) With 3 years of regular service in the post carrying the scale of pre-revised pay of Rs.14,300-18,300/- and possessing the following experience:
Experience:
(i) Essential:
3 years in Educational Administration at a senior level (of grade of Director to Government of India or above)
(ii) Desirable:
5 years in ‘Education’ or “Educational Administration’ or both
